Sc3 Awards and Recipients

Mamie A. Parker Award

The Mamie A. Parker Award, established in 2024, recognizes an Sc3 Fellow who embraces joy in exploring the natural world, demonstrates resilience in the face of adversity, and exemplifies a genuine commitment to foster inclusivity within the conservation community and beyond.

Established in 2024 by the Green Schools Alliance and the National Conservation Training Center, this award honors Mamie A. Parker who served in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 30 years and has provided inspiration through storytelling at every Sc3 since its first iteration in 2008.

All prizes are brought to you by our friends, Rivanna Natural Designs.

2024 - Sheldan Clerge

Sheldan Clerge clearly has a passion for the environment and the way that people interact with the natural world. Shelly joined Sc3 in 2023 and immediately impacted and inspired her fellow students and faculty with her leadership capabilities and strong passion for sustainability. Her positivity, energy, and belief in changing the world for the better significantly contributed to the success of her OST group’s deliverable in 2023.

In 2024, Sheldan returned to Sc3 as a student coordinator, a role in which she has excelled. From the first moment, her open and friendly personality makes everybody feel welcome and at ease, building our inclusive community from the start. We honor Shelly for her eagerness to jump into any task on a moment’s notice, including her masterful DJing at our dance party, ensuring that everyone had an amazing time while still being back in their rooms by 11.

Sheldan just finished her first year studying Wildlife Management at SUNY Cobleskill, and we can’t wait to see what she does next, but hopefully nothing will take her away from continuing to work with Sc3.
