GSA Student Internships
Amplifying young voices and empowering tomorrow's sustainability leaders.
GSA Interns (high school, college, and graduate students) play an important and active role in the Alliance, gaining real-world experience while developing skills in research, writing, visual communications, and community engagement.
By contributing your ideas, talents, and enthusiasm for sustainability, and by connecting with our broad network of schools and partners, you’ll help support meaningful school-based initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and future-focused thinking.
What do GSA Interns Do?
GSA Instagram (content creation and community engagement)
Research (from action-based resources to student engagement opportunities)
Graduate interns support the Alliance with many important administrative tasks, including communications, organization, website-updates and staff-support.
Other tasks for interns with specific skills or interests that can be applied to school sustainability.
How does it work?
The internship is remote (all online) and educational (voluntary/ unpaid).
The GSA currently accepts interns age 15+ who are fluent in English and are proficient writers.
Interns work with a student team leader, who coordinates tasks. (Communication skills are important!)
Most intern work requires skills in research, writing and some creativity, but most importantly, a passion for sustainability and eagerness to transform schools into hubs of sustainability!
Interns play an essential role in!

“GSA has been a driving force in my journey toward sustainability leadership and action. As an intern, I've been empowered to use my abilities and interests to work toward a more sustainable future. Through research, collaboration, and engagement with a global community, GSA taught me how to lead positive change and inspire new peers. With GSA, we can build a resilient world where sustainability thrives.”
- Haeun Jennie Cho, GSA Student Intern Leader 2023
“While I think environmental education is incredibly important from a teaching standpoint, as high schoolers and college students in this program, we are learning from each other and get a voice in what and how to teach the skills that are valuable to us or we didn’t get the chance to learn in school, which I think is just as, if not more, impactful.”
- Courtney Horner, GSA Student Intern Leader 2022
