CELF Summer Institute 242
CELF Summer Institute

What are the best teaching methods and classroom practices to capture student imagination, stimulate curiosity, better cultivate understanding of our interconnected planet and motivate positive change? How can we, as educators, help students connect learning to real-world experience while still meeting demanding 21st century academic standards?

The Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation - CELF - Summer Institute in Education for Sustainability (EfS) is a multi-day immersive professional development experience for K-12 classroom teachers, school leaders, future teachers and non-formal educators.  We are hosting three Institutes this year in Westchester, NY, Los Angeles and NYC

This year the Institute’s theme is Incorporating Inquiry, Place and Action for Sustainable Schools.  The CELF Institute provides K-12 curriculum design support to integrate sustainability principles and practices into existing curricula across ALL content areas. Highlights this year include workshop sessions on using National Geographic's GeoInquiry methodology, incorporating Citizen Science into curriculum, a focus on aligning place- and project-based learning opportunities to NGSS standards and an emphasis on translating student research into action.

The Summer Institute experience is most effective when you attend with a team of your peers thereby amplifying what you take back to your school with the support of your colleagues.  To hear from past participants, check out this video and learn more on our website.  Eligible for CTLE credits. We look forward to seeing you in June!
