2024 - Haven Colgate

Haven Colgate is a light who shines brightly and lifts all those around her with her commitment to family, friends, community and to building a sustainable world. If one were to ask Haven what she values most, what brings her the most joy — apart from her family — Haven would say: the environmental work she does in her own community. In fact, Haven describes herself as being a “professional volunteer” for the organizations that she cares about.

Thinking globally and acting locally, she has the heart of a naturalist who carries deep understanding of both human and natural ecosystems. Whether spreading seeds or lopping vines —  metaphorically and literally — Haven activates local restoration projects, educates her community about environmental challenges & solutions, strengthening the environmental network in her area, while also connecting people to nature and place. 

At the global scale Haven has traveled the world, even working through an Institute in Puerto Rico that promotes health and wellness through living foods. Her interests also include waste reduction and campaigning to adopt better, alternative energy solutions. 

In short, Haven is a communicator, a teacher and an advocate. She is a weaver of our web of life. She respects and protects all living things and wild places, and is an inspiration who is building a beautiful, kinder, more sustainable future.
