Stewardship & Community Service
- Community Service - Volunteer with an environmental organization or government agency such as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Field Office near you.
- Community Outreach - Host an event at your school that brings together the school community with local experts an resources to help set and meet goals.
- Connect with Place - Arrange activities including hikes, nature restoration projects, and community Clean-up projects.
- Eco Advocacy - Launch a letter-writing Campaign to decision makers, or other project-based Inititive. Encourage students to advocate for green change at the town, state or national level; Organize petitions to local government officials or businesses urging them to support sustainable solutions and practices (i.e. to install LED traffic lights or to stop using styrofoam packaging).
- Internships & Service - Disseminate information school-wide about environmental service and learning opportunities for students, faculty and staff
- National / International Events - Celebrate World Environment Day, Arbor Day, UN Water Day, Earth Day, Walk to School Day, World Oceans Day, 350.org's Day of Climate Action, Walk to School Day, America Recycles Day (but do not limit environmental learning and activities to one ay alone!).
- Ripple Improvements - Lead by example and share your successes with the GSA and the greater school community. Assist others to replicate your efforts.
- Sustainable Community Development - Host or attend local community initiatives supporting sustainability to raise awareness and learn about your local issues.
