Explain: 
LG was established in 2000 as a charter school but has its roots as an environmental private school beginning in 1983. Our teachers teach the standards using the enviornment as the central theme. We have implemented most of the sustainability standards. Our students practice it everyday.

Some examples - Phantom Electricity taught by 5th graders to all other students. No waste lunch-created by the Kindergarten class, Bay Grasses Restoration-6th grade students. Organic garden-all students. LEED lesson plans using the building as a teaching tool. Recycling-single stream. Varies projects guided by environmental teacher such as building an outdoor classroom, tagging birds, mapping school grounds to study changes in animal habitats.
