Join The GSA: The Commitment
The Green Schools Alliance seeks to remove obstacles for all schools to participate. Therefore, membership in the Green Schools Alliance is FREE, based only on a commitment of environmental leadership.
A school joining the GSA at the Climate Steward level pledges toalculate their school’s carbon footprint by establishing an energy and carbon emissions baseline, and Achieve carbon reductions over time.
Some schools choose to join at the Climate Champion level, pledging to reduce their school’s carbon footprint by at least 30% within 5 years, and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2020.

GSA Purchasing Consortium
GSA school sustainability coordinators, facility managers and business officers are working together to aggregate demand and maximize success for GSA members. The GSA works with partners including the Clinton Climate Initiative to identify and access cost-effective green tools, equipment, supplies & programs, including green performance contracting, that will make green solutions accessible to a greater audience.
Green Cup Challenge™
[January/February 2010] Created by schools for schools, this first and only student-driven, interschool energy challenge invites all schools – public and private, boarding and day - to measure and reduce campus electricity use and related GHG emissions, while supporting campus greening efforts including recycling and water conservation. Sc3 Congress
[June 26 to July 2, 2010] Outstanding student and faculty leaders, nominated by their schools, travel to Washington to participate in an annual five-day event hosted by the U.S. Fish Wildlife Service’s National Conservation Training Center (NCTC). The mission of Sc3 is to empower outstanding student environmental leaders with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to become global leaders in their own communities.

Green Resource Fairs™
[April 17, 2010] Bringing together schools, families, resource providers, experts and elected officials, these grassroots community-based Green Resource Fairs™ have been a great success. Fairs are being planned in cities worldwide on April 17, 2010 to promote brainstorming, education, and community building. They create an opportunity to provide training break-out sessions, listen to speakers, and share of “best practices” by schools, government agencies, not-for-profits, and corporate green resource providers.
Climate Quilt Campaign
The Climate Quilt Campaign is an effort to tangibly connect children worldwide around the issue of Climate Change and what they can do about it.
