The Green Schools Alliance seeks to remove obstacles for all schools to participate. Therefore, membership in the Green Schools Alliance is FREE, based only on a commitment of environmental leadership.

A school joining the GSA at the Climate Steward level pledges to calculate their school’s carbon footprint by establishing an energy and carbon emissions baseline, and Achieve carbon reductions over time.

Some schools choose to join at the Climate Champion level, pledging to reduce their school’s carbon footprint by at least 30% within 5 years, and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2020.

Rising 9th-12th grade student leaders can become U.S. Green School Fellows and train with world-renowned experts at the prestigious Sc3 Congress.

Schools are hosting GSAx Conferences, Resource Fairs, and Workshops in their communities to build networks and connect schools with resources to meet their sustainability goals.

GSA's on-line collection of essays written by staff and school that explore the challenges and opportunities schools face in their efforts to green their campus and curriculum.

You no longer need to be in a silo! GSA Member Schools have acess to our Peer-2-Peer Network to find their conterparts in other schools. The Peer-2-Peer Network supports ALL members of the school community to share their interests, expertise and experience, and facilitate collaboration.

The Green Cup Challenge invites all K-12 schools to measure and reduce campus energy use, to improve recycling and waste reduction programs, and to promote water conservation. The GCC empowers students, raises awareness about climate change and resource conservation, and unites school communities around a common goal.
