Millbrook School - Winner of the 2007 Green Cup Challenge
The Green Cup Challenge is an interschool energy conservation challenge designed to measure a reduction in average campus electricity use. The goal of this challenge is to educate the community about the environmental and economic impact of one’s actions, specifically in relation to global climate change, and to reduce campus emissions of greenhouse gasses. The competition is designed to be student-driven, but will also encourage the participation of the entire campus community. Millbrook School is a small, coeducational, college preparatory boarding school located in Millbrook, New York. Our goal is to promote in each student the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical growth which will lead to a life both individually satisfying and valuable to the greater society. Based on its longstanding tradition of community service and stewardship of the natural world, Millbrook School is committed to environmental stewardship in its planning, practices, and educational direction. In the context of its overall mission, Millbrook seeks to encourage environmental awareness and responsibility in the daily life of the school and in the actions of individual community members. For many years environmental stewardship has been a focus at Millbrook and historically has been based on our strong science program and wildlife conservation work at the Trevor Zoo.
