Wynn Calder is a Senior Strategist with the Green Schools Alliance (GSA) developing programs including GSA Workshops, the Resource Clearinghouse, and the Green Schools Climate Commitment.
Mr. Calder is President of Sustainable Schools, which works primarily with K12 independent and private schools to implement sustainability in teaching and institutional practice. He conducts professional development workshops, speaks on topics such as campus greening practices (including recycling, energy and water conservation, green purchasing, transportation, and green buildings) and sustainability in the curriculum, and conducts campus sustainability assessments. Calder has been principal consultant on environmental sustainability with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) since 2003 and chairs the NAIS summer Institute for Leadership in Sustainability.
Mr. Calder is also director of the Association of University Leaders for a Sustainable Future (ULSF) (www.ulsf.org), a virtual organization that serves as secretariat for signatories of the Talloires Declaration (1990) and conducts research in higher education for sustainability. He has been with ULSF since 1997. Calder is review editor for the Journal of Education for Sustainable Development (Sage), and has written extensively on the topic of education for sustainability. Calder is a co-founder of the U.S. Partnership for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). He serves on the advisory council of the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education. He received a Master's degree from Harvard Divinity School in 1993 and his BA from Harvard University in 1984.
